Bread Halwa

Diwali  is around the corner and you all must be ready to enjoy some lip-smacking treats 😋. So here I come with another halwa recipe 😉. This time it is with bread 🍞. Hope you guys tried my carrot, banana halwas, how was it 😉????  Bread halwa is very simple yet delicious 😊. It follows the same procedure like other halwa recipes. If you have some slices left which expires soon, bread halwa will be the best option to save those 😃. I would suggest trying this recipe with white than brown bread as it tastes good 👌. The combination of bread, ghee, milk,sugar and dry fruits tempt us to have this 👍. So why are you guys waiting, impress your loved ones with this easy and yummy halwa. Okay then let’s get started.
                                                                         
                                                                                

Preparation time: 2-3 min

Cooking time: 15-20 min

Serves: 3


Ingredients

Bread slices: 6 (white bread)

Ghee:  ¼ cup

Sugar: ¼- ½ (according to your taste)

Milk:  1 ½ cup

Cashews: 1 tbsp

Raisins: 1 tbsp

For Garnishing

Almonds: 2-4


Method

1.       Trim the edges of the bread slices.
                                                                         

2.       Tear the slices in to small pieces.
                                                                                

3.       Heat a pan add 1 tbsp of ghee, roast cashews and raisins in medium flame. Set the roasted dry fruits aside.
                                                                                     

4.       In the same pan add the remaining ghee and fry the bread pieces in low- medium flame.  
5.       Fry the pieces till it turns golden brown color.
                                                                                         

6.       Once it turns golden brown add milk and give it a mix. Allow it to cook for a couple of minutes.
                                                                 



7.       Add sugar. Give it a nice mix.
                                                                                     


8.       Allow the mixture to get thickened.  Sauté it till it begins to leave the sides of the pan. Add little more ghee if you prefer.
                                                                                  

9.       Add the roasted nuts and give it a gentle mix.
                                                                                       

10.   Transfer to a serving bowl and garnish with slivered almonds.
                                                                       

11.   Serve them warm or cold.

Notes

1.       White bread tastes best.

2.       Add ghee and sugar according to your taste.

3.        You can use 1 cup milk: ½ cup water.
